Kurdish media man demands 100 km for the safe area

Aug 18 2019

ARK News: Kurdish journalist Noraddin Osman demanded that the depth of the safe area to be established to reach 100 km as the best and surest solution for the Kurds in Syria and the components of that region.

In his participation in the ARK Bulletin on Saturday 17.08.2019 Osman said that if the safe area was 5 km or a little more than Syrian Kurdistan would be divided into two parts, areas within the safe zone and the southern area out of the safe zone, therefore, the depth of 100 km is the best solution for the Kurds and the components of the region because it will include all areas from Derik to Afrin and to the Kurdish areas on the Syrian coast, describing the safe area as the golden opportunity for the Kurds and the components of the region, where there will be no presence of Iranian militias, nor the PYD militants or the Syrian regime in that area.

Osman praised the experience of the Kurdistan region of Iraq, adding that the current geography of the Kurdistan Region is the product of a UN resolution as a safe area, however, the so-called disputed areas between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad were not included in the resolution so the disputed areas have not been settled yet, so we must take advantage of this experience and demand a depth of 100 km for the safe area to ensure the Kurds in Syria and the rest of the components of their rights in the side of administrative, military and political.
