ARK News: The Joint president of the Administrative Body of the Syria Democratic Council, Ilham Ahmed said that they agreed to a 5 km in-depth for the safe area to be established so that they can prove to everyone that they do not pose a threat to Turkey.

In a media interview on the Ronahi TV channel of the PYD on Saturday 10.08.2019 Elham Ahmed said that Turkey knows more than any other party that they (QSD / YPG) do not form or pose a threat to Turkey, and they agreed to a depth of 5 km for the safe area, and they agreed to the withdrawal of heavy weapons until to prove to the world that they do not pose a threat to Turkey, and that they agreed to a 5km in a depth for the safe area, and they also agreed to the withdrawal of heavy weapons until they prove to the world that they do not pose any threat to Turkey.

Ahmed added that they have shown flexibility for the safe area and that they "want to solve problems with Turkey and they have attempted in this field," but they have not been officially informed of anything about the safe area so far.

The Turkish Defense Ministry had announced earlier, in a statement on the 7th of this month, the completion of talks with US military officials about the planned safe area in northern Syria.

She said that an agreement had been reached to implement the measures to be taken in the first phase to remove the Turkish concerns as soon as possible.

According to the ministry, the agreement provides for the establishment of a joint operations center in Turkey as soon as possible to coordinate and manage the establishment of the safe zone in Syria.

She also stressed that it was agreed with the US side in making the safe area a peace corridor, and taking all additional measures to ensure the return of Syrians.
