Two years and more than four months after the abduction of Fouad Ibrahim by the PYD militants
ARK News: Today, two years and more than four months have passed since the abduction of activist Fouad Ibrahim by the Democratic Union Party the (PYD) militants in the area of rural Derik, Kurdistan of Syria, and his fate is still unclear, and no information about him so far.
On March 24, 2017, the PYD militants abducted the youth activist Fouad Ibrahim in an area between the villages of Mamshour and Shaker Khache Derik, Kurdistan of Syria, despite attempts to reveal his fate, attempts failed because of the PYD’s denial of his abduction.
A brief about the life of Fouad Ibrahim:
Fouad joined the Kurdish movement in Syria in the late 1980s and was promoted to become a member of the logical committee of the Kurdish Azadi Party in Syrian, and he participated as a youth activist in demonstrations and protests in his area "Derik" in the first demonstrations of the Syrian revolution.
He became a member of the Kurdish National Council in Syria and was elected as a member of the General Secretariat of the Council. Upon the establishment of the Supreme Kurdish Body 2012, he was elected as a member of the Kurdish Body which formed following the Duhok Agreement between the Democratic Society Movement (TEV-DEM) and the Kurdish National Council in Syria (ENKS)
Fouad Ibrahim was kidnapped more than once by the Syrian regime and by PYD militants because of his activities and his participation in events and demonstrations against the Syrian regime.
On 2-10-2016 Fouad Ibrahim was kidnapped with the local council member Walid Farman during the distribution of invitations to take part in the local council. When he was released at the time, he threatened to kill him if political activity and youth activities would resume.
According to information obtained by the ARK Media Foundation, Fouad Ibrahim was severely tortured in a prison in the PYD and after the torture, he was taken to a hospital for treatment after his condition deteriorated due to severe torture in prison.
Fouad Ibrahim is married with eight children (3 boys and 5 girls). His father died. He lived with his mother, his wife and their children in the village of Shaker Khache, southeast of Derik.
On 24/3/177 he was kidnapped again by PYD militants in a village between Mamshour and Shaker Khache, in the rural of Derik city, Syrian Kurdistan, and there is no information about him until the preparation of this report.
