Afrin .... Armed groups dig the hills in three villages in searching of antiquities

ARK News: A Human Rights Organization which is working on documenting violations in the Kurdish region of Afrin said that an armed group dug many hills in three villages of Bulbul town in searching of antiquities for the theft.

The Human Rights Organization in Afrin on Thursday 1/8/2019 in a report reached a copy of it to the ARK Media Foundation reported that militias of Sultan Murad faction carried out excavation and digging processes of the soil in the hill between the villages (Bebaka - Qasha -Sharqiya) of Bulbul town in searching of antiquities using heavy machinery like Turks and uprooting hundreds of olive trees without moral deterrent.

The report by the Human Rights Organization in Afrin which was published on July 28, 2019, said that the armed factions stole more than twenty thousand artifacts and sold them in Turkey. According to the Organization, the sites that were excavated, razed and destroyed and tampering their contents and theft of the artifacts are about 43 sites.

The Organization mentioned that the aim of the bulldozing, digging, destruction and theft of the ruins that indicate the uniqueness of the Kurdish region of Afrin the “Chiyaye Kurmênc” is to distort the image of civilization and historical and national of the Kurdish nation and change the geological features of the layers of the earth, which bear the indications of the presence of Kurds in the region on over the ages.
