President Barzani congratulates Asayish forces

ARK News: The prominent Kurdish leader Masoud Barzani has hailed the security forces for arresting the main suspects behind the Wednesday's deadly shooting in a restaurant in capital Erbil where a Turkish diplomat and two civilians were killed.

"I want to thank the Kurdistan security and counter-terrorism forces and all the security units who were able to arrest the attackers speedily and proved themselves to be trustworthy," Barzani said in a statement released by his office.

"I also thank the people of the Kurdistan Region who were supportive of the security forces."

He further pointed out that the people and security forces proved that the Kurdistan Region will never be an area for "terrorists" and that no criminals can hide from the eyes of the forces and the public as well.

A group of armed men on Wednesday, July 17, raided a restaurant in Kurdistan Region's Erbil capital and killed two Turkish diplomats with two civilians at the scene.

The president of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), who also served as the President of the Kurdistan Region previously, urged all sides to keep away their problems from the region and avoid hurting the people of Kurdistan.

Kurdistan Region’s Counter-Terrorism Unit has already announced the arrest of the suspects, the main one was identified as Mezlum Dagh, 27, from Turkey's Diyarbakir.
