Germany refuses to send ground troops to Syrian Kurdistan
ARK News: Germany rejected on Monday a call by the United States to send ground troops to Syria in a position likely to anger US President Donald Trump, who wants German Chancellor Angela Merkel to commit to a bigger military role in the Middle East.
German government spokesman Stephan Zeibert said at a regular news conference on Monday, "when I say that the vision of the government is the commitment to the current procedures in the military alliance against," Da’esh "it does not include ground forces as it is known."
The United States asked Germany on Sunday to provide anti-terror ground forces in northern Syria, reinforcing with pressures for a greater military commitment by Berlin.
