UN calls for adherence to the ceasefire in Idlib
The UN Special Envoy to Syria, Geir Pederson, stressed the need for all parties to the Syrian conflict to "fully respect international humanitarian law and protect human rights" in any form of military operations or planning.
UN Secretary-General Stephen Dujarric told the daily press conference in New York that during his visit to Damascus, the Special Envoy to Syria had "constructive discussions" with Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al- Moallem.
According to the spokesman, the Special Envoy to Syria, Mr. Pederson, "urged all parties to fulfill their commitments and abide by the ceasefire arrangements in Idlib."
Pederson also stressed the urgent need for strong international support "to ensure that the parties to the Syrian conflict" move seriously towards a political solution that meets the legitimate aspirations of all Syrians. "
