The death of five children in al-Hol camp

Mar 12 2019

ARK News: Five children died last Sunday at the al-Hol camp which is run by PYD militants in the eastern suburb of Hasaka due to malnutrition and lack of health care inside the camp.

Activists confirmed that the children Osama Khalid and Hajir al-Ali died because of poor services provided by PYD in the camp, in addition to three other children whose names did not arrive.

Three children died three days ago at al-Hol camp because of the cold and lack of health care.

A few days ago, al-Hol camp witnessed a women's demonstration in protest against poor living conditions and ill-treatment.

The United Nations expressed on Friday deep concern about the safety of tens of thousands of displaced people who arrived recently, to the al-Hol camp.

Stefan Dugrick, spokesman for the UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterich said that 3,000 people, most of them women and children, arrived at the Hol camp in deplorable condition.

He added that "there are serious concerns about the health of the camp's vulnerable population, where about 100 people have died since early December on their way to the camp or shortly after their arrival”.

He pointed out that " a two-thirds of those who died are children under the age of five, and the most important causes of their death were low body temperature, pneumonia, drought, and complications of malnutrition.”
