ARK News: Official media mentioned that the president of the Syrian regime, Bashar al-Assad made his first public visit to his close regional ally, Document Iran since the start of the war in his country eight years ago and met with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in Tehran on Monday and expressed his support for the alliance between the two countries.

Syrian and Iranian media showed footage of Assad and Khamenei and the Syrian regime television said they had agreed to "continue coordination between the two sides at all levels including the interest of the two peoples.

Khamenei was quoted as saying that the two military victories in Syria have sent a "strong blow" to US plans in the region.

Qasim Soleimani, commander of the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards appeared next to Assad which is the corps responsible for external operations. Soleimani had appeared on the front lines in Syria, where his presence has angered Sunni-led insurgents opposed to what they see as expansion by Shi'ite Iran in the region.

This is the first foreign visit to Assad, as well as his visit to Russia, since the beginning of the war and it is the first to Tehran since 2010.

Syrian television quoted Assad as saying to Khamenei that the countries of the region should not comply with the wishes of the Western powers led by the United States "to spread chaos" in Syria and Iran.
