
Britain: Russia's support kept al-Assad in power, and we will not open our embassy in Damascus
British Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt said, that Russia shows interest in the Middle East in an unprecedented manner and that the survival of Bashar al-Assad in power due to Russian support, considering that it will remain in the short term.
Hunt considered that Moscow "has to show us how to provide a viable solution to the Syrians and how it will bring peace and stability to Syria, I believe that stability will not be achieved in the long term under Assad's rule, "but stressed the lack of a plan for London to open its embassy in Damascus.
In an interview at his office in the parliament on his return from the Warsaw Conference, Hunt stressed that Americans should not go out of eastern Syria in a counterproductive way.
