ARK News: Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the political settlement in Syria is going more slowly than desirable, but the progress is evident in this area.

At the annual press conference on the harvest of Russian diplomacy in 2018, Lavrov noted the need to complete the war against terrorism, especially when “Hayat Tahrir al-Sham”, which is the backbone of the terrorist "al Nusra Front” imposed the full control of the province of Idlib, the last stronghold of the militants in the country.

In this regard, Lavrov expressed Moscow's interest in the implementation of the agreement last September between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, on a cease-fire in Idlib, stressing that this agreement "does not require granting terrorists full freedom of disposition."

The Russian foreign minister said that the militants continue to violate the cease-fire agreement and targeting the Syrian government forces and the Russian base of Hamaimim in the province of Latakia.

Lavrov stressed that this issue will be on the expected meeting between the Russian and Turkish leaders agenda later this month.
