ARK News: French President Emmanuel Macron said on Thursday that his country will continue its military presence in Syria and Iraq in the framework of the international coalition to fight ISIS.

This came during a speech which Macron addressed to the armed forces in an air base in "Toulouse" city south-west of France.

The French president said that "the withdrawal of the US ally should not make us deviate from our strategic goal, namely the elimination of the ISIS organization."

Macron added that France "will remain during this year and committed to the military in the Levant (Syria and Iraq), within the framework of the International Alliance, because any acceleration of the withdrawal would be a mistake."

He continued that "the battle is not over," pointing that his thinking, in particular, goes to the four American soldiers who died on the Syrian territories.
