UN: Most Severe Violations in Syria Include Killing and Recruitment of Children
ARK News.. The United Nations has stated that the most serious violations in Syria involve the killing and recruitment of children.
The UN Under-Secretary-General and Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict reported that the level of grave violations against children in Syria during 2025 remained high, with a slight increase compared to the previous year.
During a session of the United Nations Security Council on Thursday, Virginia Gamba said that the most documented violation through the Monitoring and Reporting Mechanism was the killing and maiming of children, followed by the recruitment and use of children in conflict, despite a slight decrease compared to 2024.
She called for “continued and intensified efforts” to support the Syrian government in addressing and preventing such violations, as well as strengthening accountability mechanisms.
