Reopening of Til Kochar–Rabia Border Crossing Between Syria and Iraq

ARK News.. The Rabia Border Crossing is set to reopen with Syria, in a step expected to create job opportunities for residents and surrounding areas of Rabia subdistrict in Nineveh province.

According to Kurdish media sources, Nineveh Deputy Governor Ghazwan al-Dawoodi said the crossing is scheduled to reopen on Monday, April 20, 2026, with the attendance of the Director General of Border Crossings and the Governor of Nineveh at the inauguration ceremony, following a closure that lasted about 13 years.

The source explained that despite ongoing work at the crossing, it will be opened as scheduled on Monday.

For his part, Musheer Ramah, media official of the Syrian General Authority of Land and Sea Ports, announced that the Til Kochar Border Crossing will be officially reopened on Monday, April 20.

Ramah added: “All technical and security preparations for reactivating the crossing have been completed.”

The reopening of the Til Kochar–Rabia crossing marks a key step toward restoring movement and trade between Syria and Iraq after more than a decade of closure.
