ARK News.. The Syrian army has deployed military forces to its border with Iraq, under the command of Brigadier General Awad al‑Jassem, in a move aimed at protecting the frontier from infiltration by militants of the Islamic State and securing the area against potential repercussions of the ongoing regional conflict.

According to RT Arabic, the Syrian army has begun mobilizing its forces in a large and calculated deployment along the Syrian–Iraqi border strip, establishing positions at several strategic and controlling points. The report noted that the forces include personnel of various Arab nationalities, in addition to fighters from Arab tribal groups.

The source added that the Syrian army, anticipating any field developments that could result from the escalating confrontation involving the United States and Israel on one side and Iran on the other, has carefully selected its deployment locations. Among the most prominent areas mentioned were Al‑Hol and Al‑Shaddadi, which are considered strategically important locations in the countryside of Al‑Hasakah Governorate.

The source also emphasized that the official Syrian narrative frames the deployment as a precautionary measure intended to protect the border from infiltration by Islamic State militants and to secure the area from potential fallout related to the broader regional conflict.
