French Woman Returning from Syria to Face Trial for Genocide
ARK News.. A French national returning from Syria, Sonia Mugri, is set to become the first French citizen to stand trial on charges of genocide, after France’s Court of Cassation rejected her appeal in a case accusing her of participating in the enslavement of a Yazidi girl in 2015.
Mugri, 36, will be the first French woman ever prosecuted for genocide — a crime that carries a potential life sentence, according to sources following the case.
A former wife of an ISIS “emir,” Mugri will also face charges of terrorism and complicity in crimes against humanity.
She remains in pre-trial detention and will be tried before the Special Criminal Court in Paris, with a trial date yet to be determined.
