Suwayda: Residents Protest City Siege, Demand Right to Self-Determination
ARK News.. Residents of Shahba, a city in Syria’s Suwayda province, staged a large demonstration condemning the ongoing siege imposed on the region. Protesters called for the right to self-determination and safe return to their villages currently under the control of the Syrian Interim Government, while also rejecting any form of guardianship from Damascus.
According to local sources, demonstrators urged the International Commission of Inquiry to uncover the truth about violations and crimes committed in the towns and cities of As-Suwayda, and to hold those responsible accountable.
On September 27, residents of Shahba held a similar protest, denouncing what they described as “massacres” carried out by the transitional authorities in the province. They reaffirmed their determination to continue protest movements until their demands are met
