Widespread Deployment of Military Police in Deir Ez-Zour
ARK News.. Human rights sources have reported a large-scale deployment of military police patrols and a wave of arrests targeting members of local tribes across the streets of Deir Ez-Zour.
According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, heavily armed military vehicles and personnel were stationed throughout residential neighborhoods, marketplaces, and main streets as part of a campaign aimed at curbing the proliferation of unregulated weapons in the city. The move follows a surge in complaints over the use of firearms in family and tribal disputes, which have fueled security tensions and endangered civilian lives.
The Observatory added that military police carried out arrests of several tribal members found carrying light weapons in public areas, subsequently transferring them to facilities under military police control within the city.
