U.S.: Any Further Failure in Syria Will Affect the Country’s Future
ARK News.. The U.S. State Department welcomed Syria’s return to the United Nations, reiterating Washington’s support for Syria’s unity and calling for a diplomatic settlement between Damascus and Tel Aviv “as soon as possible.”
According to Syria TV, State Department spokesperson Michael Mitchell said:
“Syria has entered into direct dialogue with Israel, which is very important for Washington as a key adviser and mediator between the two sides.”
Mitchell emphasized that while the U.S. understands Israel’s security concerns, it also recognizes that continued conflict would harm Syria’s economic recovery. He urged all parties to work toward a diplomatic solution swiftly.
He stressed that the United States “supports a united Syria, wants governments capable of controlling all their territory, and prioritizes preventing the return of any terrorist group. U.S.-Syrian cooperation against ISIS will continue.”
On the recent unrest in Suwayda, Mitchell said:
“We have witnessed a major failure to protect civilians in Syria… any further failure will impact the country’s future.”
He added that Washington expects improvements in Syria’s security and political situation, noting that “relations with Damascus are moving in the right direction
