Ministry of Higher Education Removes All References and Symbols Linked to the Ousted Assad Regime
ARK News.. As Syria prepares for its first academic year since the fall of the ousted Assad regime, the Ministry of Higher Education has announced revisions to the national curriculum.
In a decision issued for the 2025–2026 school year, the ministry ordered the removal of all references and symbols associated with the Assad regime, particularly from social studies, Islamic education, history, and geography textbooks.
The decision also upholds a directive issued in January that permanently removed the “National Education” subject from the curriculum.
These steps come as part of a broader series of reforms aimed at eliminating the Ba’ath Party and its former regime from Syria’s education
