Suwayda: Druze Spiritual Leadership Demands Immediate Release of Kidnapped Civilians
ARK News.. The Spiritual Leadership of the Druze community in Suwayda reaffirmed its commitment to the cause of the abducted civilians, stressing that the issue is first and foremost a humanitarian one rather than political, and calling for their immediate and unconditional release.
In a statement, the Druze spiritual authority asserted that residents are entitled to reclaim their villages and confiscated lands, adding that “rights do not expire with time or bargaining.”
The statement urged concerned states, international organizations, and human rights groups to act swiftly in reconstructing devastated villages ahead of the winter season, once displaced residents can return.
The leadership emphasized that Druze communities around the world have consistently demonstrated unity, resilience, and collective strength in facing challenges, noting that the Druze are “a people who do not compromise on their cause, dignity, or right to self-determination, regardless of circumstances.”
The statement stressed that local cadres and professionals are fully prepared to manage the region’s affairs in a way that ensures security, stability, justice, and development.
The leadership concluded by highlighting that the people of Suwayda have expressed, through their free will, their demand for an independent entity that guarantees a dignified life.
