UN: Nearly 200,000 Syrian Refugees Have Left Lebanon Since Start of 2025
ARK News..The United Nations has reported that almost 200,000 Syrian refugees have voluntarily left Lebanon to return to Syria since the beginning of this year.
Kelly Clements, Deputy High Commissioner for Refugees, said in a press statement: “Since the start of 2025, about 200,000 Syrians have departed from Lebanon to Syria, most of them on their own. The number is rising rapidly.”
According to Clements, the majority of returnees are heading to Hama and Homs in central Syria, as well as Aleppo in the north.
She added that UNHCR has prepared a support plan for returnees, which includes minor housing repairs, cash assistance, provision of essential relief supplies, and meeting some urgent needs.
