Aug 31 2025

ARK News.. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) has reported that 293 women were abducted during the bloody events in Suwayda last July.

According to the Observatory’s statement on Sunday, August 31, 2025, 42 women were released shortly after their abduction, while two remain held without trial at Adra Prison in Damascus.

Fourteen women were killed after being kidnapped. The fate of 235 women remains unknown to this day.

SOHR urged all parties to keep women out of armed conflicts, calling for the immediate release of all abductees, clarification of the fate of the missing, and accountability for those responsible for these grave violations.

The organization also renewed its call for urgent intervention by an independent international commission of inquiry to ensure justice and prevent the recurrence of such crimes against women in Syria.
