Deir Ez-Zour: Entire Family Injured in Landmine Explosion
ARK News.. A Syrian rights group reported that an entire family was wounded in a landmine explosion west of Deir Ez-Zour, a remnant of the country’s years of conflict.
According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the blast occurred in the Kabajib area, southwest of the city, injuring five family members. The mother lost her leg in the explosion, while her three children sustained varying degrees of injuries. All were transferred to hospitals for treatment.
The family was reportedly traveling in a vehicle while tending to their sheep when the landmine detonated.
The Observatory noted that since the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime on December 8, 2024, at least 598 civilians — including 164 children and 41 women — have been killed by explosions caused by remnants of war in Syria. Another 648 people have been injured, among them 31 children and 18 women.
