Tom Barrack: Syrian President’s Goals Align with U.S. Objectives
ARK News.. U.S. Special Envoy to Syria Tom Barrack said he has confidence in Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, stressing that he believes the president’s goals are aligned with those of the United States.
In a press interview, Barrack noted that while President al-Sharaa does not trust Israel’s intentions, he is nevertheless “a pragmatic leader.”
The envoy warned that the alternative to lifting U.S. sanctions on Syria would be chaos and a return to conditions even worse than those under the Assad regime.
Barrack further emphasized that President al-Sharaa is working to address Syria’s challenges with limited resources and under immense pressure.
