SDF Abducts Minor Ahmad Hamme Hassan in Kobani
ARK News.. In continuation of what rights groups describe as a policy of intimidation and forced conscription of children, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have abducted a minor from the city of Kobani in Syrian Kurdistan.
A local source told ARK News that militants from the Revolutionary Youth Movement affiliated with the SDF, kidnapped 16-year-old Ahmad Hamme Hassan on August 19, 2025, from a neighborhood in Kobani.
According to the source, Ahmad was taken from in front of his family home when a black four-wheel-drive vehicle stopped and masked gunmen forced him away in front of his younger brother. His whereabouts remain unknown three days after the abduction.
This incident comes despite SDF commander Mazloum Kobani having signed an action plan with Virginia Gamba, the UN Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict, pledging to end and prevent the recruitment of minors under 18. Reports from rights organizations indicate that child recruitment and deployment in military activities continues.
