The British House of Lords is hosting a roundtable to discuss the paths of justice and accountability in Syria

ARK News.. The House of Lords in the British Parliament is scheduled to host a roundtable on September 9 to discuss the paths of justice and accountability in Syria, nine months after the fall of the regime of ousted President Bashar al-Assad.

According to media sources, the event is jointly organized by the International Bar Association's Institute of Law, the Sectarianism, Proxies, and De-Sectarianizing Project at Lancaster University, and the Foreign Policy Center.

The discussions will be chaired by Baroness Helena Kennedy, Director of the International Bar Association's Institute of Law and a member of the House of Lords. She is a Scottish lawyer and one of Britain's most prominent advocates for civil liberties, the promotion of human rights, and the struggle for social justice.

The roundtable will bring together politicians, parliamentarians, legal and policy experts, as well as representatives of Syrian civil society and academics, including:

Fadel Abdul Ghani, Executive Director of the Syrian Network for Human Rights

Sanaa Kikhia, Executive Director of the Syrian Legal Development Program.

Dr. Maria Castrino, Lecturer in Anthropology at Brunel University London.

Alan Haji, Case Building Officer at the Syrian Center for Justice and Accountability.

Marianna Karkoutli, Founder and Board Member of the Women's Rights Initiative.

Professor Simon Mabon, Head of International Politics at Lancaster University.

The roundtable will focus on assessing the current situation in Syria, exploring mechanisms for international justice and accountability for violations committed by the ousted Assad regime.
