KDP Marks 79th Anniversary, Reaffirms Commitment to Barzani Legacy and Kurdish Rights
ARK News.. The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) marked its 79th anniversary on Saturday with a statement reaffirming its commitment to the principles of Kurdish nationalism, the legacy of the late leader Mustafa Barzani, and the defense of the Kurdistan Region’s constitutional rights.
In a statement issued by its Political Bureau, the party praised the sacrifices of the Kurdish people, the Peshmerga, and martyrs of the Kurdish struggle, describing the KDP as a “vanguard of Kurdish nationalism” that has led milestones from the September Revolution to the 1991 Uprising and the federal system in Iraq.
The KDP stressed the importance of resolving outstanding issues between Erbil and Baghdad through the constitution and political agreements, based on partnership, balance, and consensus. It also highlighted the need for broad participation in Iraq’s upcoming parliamentary elections on November 11, urging transparent and fair voting free of external interference.
Regionally, the party pledged to maintain balanced relations with neighboring states, insisting that Kurdistan will remain a source of stability while rejecting threats to its security.
The statement concluded with a renewed pledge to President Masoud Barzani and the people of Kurdistan to safeguard constitutional rights and protect the Region’s institutions.
