Aug 15 2025

ARK News.. On Thursday, August 14, 2025, negotiating delegations from the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) held a new meeting at the PUK Political Bureau in Erbil.

In a joint statement, both sides affirmed that, based on the principles agreed upon in their shared vision and the steps taken to organize joint work for the next stage of governance in the Kurdistan Region, significant progress has been achieved. They also discussed practical steps for implementing this program.

The statement added that, taking into account the current situation in the region and ongoing developments, and out of respect for the will of the people of Kurdistan, as well as in fulfillment of promises made to their supporters, the two parties — in light of the results of the sixth term of the Kurdistan Parliament and in order to preserve the region’s legal and political standing — agreed to intensify efforts to ensure the sixth parliamentary term begins its regular legislative work in September, and to continue other steps toward forming the new government.
