International Coalition Warns SDF, It Will Not Protect Them from Possible Syrian Military Offensive

ARK News..The Middle East Eye reported that Turkey and the United States have given Mazloum Abdi a 30-day deadline to accelerate the process of joining Damascus, during a meeting with Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) officials. The deadline is set to expire within days.

According to a regional source cited by the outlet, U.S. officials warned the SDF that the international coalition “may not be able to protect them” if Damascus launches a military offensive in the event of non-compliance with the March 10 agreement.

The source also noted that Turkey will not directly intervene against the SDF but that Turkish Armed Forces may provide indirect support for a limited operation carried out by Syrian forces, adding that preparations for such an operation have already been completed.

Furthermore, sources revealed that U.S. Special Envoy Tom Barak requested, during meetings with Turkish officials in Ankara, more time for diplomatic efforts and negotiations with the SDF.

According to the same sources, Turkish officials responded by stating: “The decision and authority on this matter belong to the Damascus government. Within the framework of military cooperation between Damascus and Turkey, and given Turkey’s sensitivity to its national security, any request for support from Damascus will be met positively.”
