Aug 11 2025

ARK News.. Sheikh Youssef Jarbou, one of the Druze spiritual leaders in Syria’s Sweida province, has called for the formation of a neutral international committee to investigate recent events in the region.

In a recorded statement, Jarbou urged an immediate halt to military operations in Suwayda, the release of all abducted and forcibly disappeared individuals, and the unconditional opening of humanitarian crossings.

He noted that the province has witnessed painful incidents in recent days, during which local forces made efforts to prevent bloodshed and protect civilians.

Jarbou called on guarantor states and human rights and humanitarian organizations to assume their responsibilities and take moral stances to lift injustice against innocent people.

Expressing support for fellow Druze spiritual leaders’ calls for unity, harmony, and rejection of discord, he also thanked Sheikh Muwaffaq Tarif for his position.

He reiterated his demands for guarantor states to end hostilities, withdraw immediately from all parts of Suwayda province, release detainees and missing persons, form an impartial international investigation committee, lift the siege, and open humanitarian crossings without restrictions.
