ARK News.. The United States has announced that an American inter-agency delegation visited the Syrian capital, Damascus, to begin the process of reestablishing a permanent diplomatic presence in the country.

According to the U.S. Embassy in Damascus, the delegation was led by Nicholas Granger, Head of the U.S. Syria Regional Platform, and held discussions with Syrian counterparts on a range of economic and security issues, as well as plans to reopen a permanent diplomatic mission in the capital.

The embassy stated that the technical talks covered financial sector reforms, economic opportunities, the search for missing American citizens, humanitarian access, enhanced security cooperation, and the reestablishment of diplomatic operations in Damascus.

The U.S. Embassy emphasized that diplomacy requires on-the-ground presence and active engagement to advance American interests.

Through constructive dialogue and direct engagement, the embassy reaffirmed U.S. support for the Syrian government’s efforts to build a stable, secure, and unified Syria—aligned with the vision of President Donald Trump.
