Masrour Barzani and Anil Bora Inan Stress Need to Resume Kurdistan Oil Exports
ARK News.. The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, Masrour Barzani, and Turkey's Ambassador to Iraq, Anil Bora Inan, underscored the urgent need to put an end to terrorist attacks targeting the Kurdistan Region's economic infrastructure and energy sector.
Prime Minister Barzani received Ambassador Inan on Thursday, July 17, 2025. The meeting was also attended by Turkey's Consul General in the Kurdistan Region, Erman Topjo.
The two sides discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations, reviewed the general situation in Iraq and the broader region, and emphasized the necessity of resuming oil exports from the Kurdistan Region through Turkey. They also addressed ongoing efforts to resolve disputes between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the federal government, underlining the importance of upholding the Region's constitutional rights and ensuring financial entitlements for Kurdistan's citizens.
The meeting reaffirmed the importance of stopping terrorist assaults that are undermining the Region's energy infrastructure and broader economy.
Prime Minister Barzani expressed gratitude to Turkey for its continued support and humanitarian assistance to the people of Kurdistan, particularly during recent conflicts and regional tensions.
Ambassador Inan, in turn, praised the Kurdistan Regional Government's energy reforms, specifically highlighting the success of the "Ronaki" project, which has enabled 24-hour electricity access for residents.
In a separate point of discussion, both parties stressed the importance of intensifying efforts to ensure the success of the peace process in Turkey.
