ARK News.. Media sources reported that Russian aircraft have carried out approximately 20 flights to Qamishlo Airport since last March, coinciding with notable movements by officers from the ousted Assad regime.

The “Ekad” platform stated it documented at least 18 Russian flights to Qamishlo Airport over three months, starting in March, most of them operated by light cargo planes departing from Himeimim Airbase in Latakia countryside.

According to the source, these flights coincided with significant movements by officers from the ousted Assad regime in eastern Syria, amid indications of a possible shift in Russia’s positioning there.

The source also claimed that satellite imagery monitored by the platform showed increased air activity at Qamishlo Airport after a lull in January and February. The pace of flights began to rise starting on 7 March, when AN-26 and AN-72 aircraft—used for transporting personnel and equipment and previously based at Himeimim—were detected.
