Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa Meets Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Baku
ARK News.. Syrian President Ahmad al-Shara and his accompanying delegation met today, Saturday, July 12, 2025, with President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev at the Zogulba Palace in Baku.
According to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), “President Ahmad al-Sharaa has departed for an official visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan, and met with President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev without specifying the duration or further details of the visit.
Previously, on April 14, the Syrian President met with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum in Turkey.
At that meeting, President Aliyev affirmed Azerbaijan’s readiness to take part in Syria’s reconstruction efforts to help strengthen security and stability. He also welcomed the new developments unfolding in Syria.
The Republic of Azerbaijan reactivated the operations of its embassy in Damascus on February 17, after a closure that lasted more than 12 years.
