Syria Exports Around 14,000 Tons of Phosphate to Egypt
ARK News.. Loading operations have begun at the port of Tartous in Syria for a new shipment of Syrian phosphate destined for Egypt.
According to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), Mazen Alloush, Director of Relations at the General Authority for Land and Sea Ports in Syria, stated that the quantity of phosphate scheduled for export to Egypt in the coming days is approximately 14,000 tons.
Alloush added that the total amount of phosphate exported since the fall of the previous regime last December has reached 180,000 tons.
He noted that this vessel is the tenth of its kind to be loaded with Syrian phosphate and exported via Tartous Port since the country’s liberation.
Phosphate is extracted from mines in the Homs countryside before being transported to Tartous Port for processing and export procedures, coordinated by the General Authority for Land and Sea Ports and other relevant agencies.
