Mohammed Ismail’s Speech on the 68th Anniversary of the Founding of the Kurdistan Democratic Party – Syria

On the occasion of the 68th anniversary of the founding of the Kurdistan Democratic Party – Syria (KDPS), Party Secretary Mohammed Ismail issued a statement reaffirming the party’s proud legacy in defending the rights of the Kurdish people across both the Syrian and broader Kurdistanis landscapes, in line with the struggle led by the late Barzani and the leadership of President Masoud Barzani.

On the 68th Anniversary of Our Party’s Founding
Dear Sisters and Brothers,
Esteemed Comrades, Members, Cadres, and Supporters of the Kurdistan Democratic Party – Syria,
To the Masses of Our Kurdish People,
Peace be upon you all.
On this glorious occasion—the 68th anniversary of the founding of our resilient party, the Kurdistan Democratic Party – Syria—I extend my warmest congratulations and best wishes to you all. May this anniversary return upon us and upon our Kurdish people with the fulfillment of our long-sought aspirations for freedom, dignity, and legitimate national rights within a democratic, federal Syria that respects the dignity of all its components.
Sixty-eight years have passed since the launch of our party on June 14, 1957, when the first pioneers—whom we honor today—gathered under the banner of Kurdish identity, guided by the values and principles of the immortal Barzani legacy: sincerity, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to both national and patriotic causes.
Our journey has been filled with challenges and hardships, yet we have never strayed from the path of legitimate and peaceful struggle. Despite repression, arrests, and attempts at marginalization and denial, we endured. We stood tall in the face of oppression, rejected subordination and division, and remained steadfast in our belief that Kurdish unity is the key to victory and that our national cause is not up for compromise.
Our party has consistently taken honorable positions in defense of our people's rights in both the Syrian and broader Kurdistanis arenas, aligned with the struggle of our brethren in Iraqi Kurdistan—foremost among them, His Excellency President Masoud Barzani. We have worked to strengthen ties of Kurdish-Arab-Syriac-Assyrian brotherhood and solidarity among all components of Syria. We have clung to the original nationalist path of the immortal Barzani, who believed that the Kurdish people deserve life, freedom, and the defense of their identity against all attempts at erasure.
On this occasion, we honor the souls of our righteous martyrs and bow in gratitude before their sacrifices. We renew our pledge to continue along their path. We also salute all those who have stood with us and believed in the justice of our cause, from Kurdish and Syrian national forces to our friends around the world.
Finally, we call upon all our people and national Kurdish forces to unify ranks, prioritize the supreme national interest, and work together to constitutionally secure the rights of our people within a democratic state that ensures justice and equality for all its citizens.
Long live our Kurdistan Democratic Party – Syria.
Long live the immortal Barzani legacy.
Long live the struggle of our Kurdish people.
