On Thursday, June 5, 2025, Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani extended his warm congratulations to Muslims in Kurdistan, Iraq, and across the globe on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.

Below is the full text of his message:

As we welcome the blessed Eid al-Adha, we extend our sincerest congratulations and best wishes to all Muslims in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and around the world. I especially congratulate the brave Peshmerga forces, members of the internal security forces, and the families of our revered martyrs and victims of the Anfal campaign, wishing everyone a joyful and peaceful Eid filled with safety and reassurance.

It is deeply regrettable and concerning that this year’s Eid arrives amid difficult financial circumstances, caused by the collective punishment imposed by the federal government on the citizens of the Kurdistan Region. Nonetheless, we assure our people that the Kurdistan Regional Government will spare no effort in overcoming this situation and ending the unjust measures that have affected the rights of public servants and salary recipients in the Region.

Eid Mubarak, and may you all enjoy continued health, happiness, and prosperity.

On the occasion of Eid al-Adha, I extend my heartfelt and sincere congratulations to all Muslims in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and around the world. I pray to Almighty God that this Eid brings goodness, blessings, security, peace, and happiness to everyone.

This blessed occasion is a time to reaffirm the values and meanings of Eid—sacrifice, compassion, and reconciliation. It is also a moment to renew our call for enhancing mutual understanding, cooperation, and collective action to overcome challenges, entrench the foundations of justice, and ensure a dignified life for all citizens.

The issue of salary recipients in the Kurdistan Region must be resolved through dialogue and mutual understanding, based on the constitution, laws, and agreements, in a way that serves the public interest of the country. We assure the people of Kurdistan that we will continue to defend their rights and will take all necessary constitutional measures in this regard.

We hope that this blessed occasion will serve as new motivation to raise the voice of reason and shared responsibility in order to secure a better future for all components of Iraq.
