Barbara Leaf: The Kurds Can Play a Key Role in Syria
ARK News.. Former U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Barbara Leaf has stated that the Kurds can play an important role in promoting stability in both Iraq and Syria.
In an interview with Kurdistan24, Leaf said, “The Kurds can contribute significantly to stability in Iraq and Syria. However, the new U.S. administration’s policy toward the Middle East remains unclear, and I don’t yet know what direction it will take.”
Leaf also emphasized the urgent need to resume oil exports from the Kurdistan Region, warning that the continued suspension would negatively impact all parties involved.
She urged the Trump administration to prioritize the resumption of Kurdish oil exports as a key issue for Iraq’s stability, noting that there are both political and technical obstacles currently hindering the process.
