
Masrour Barzani and Nuh Yilmaz Discuss Ways to Strengthen Kurdistan Region–Turkey Relations
ARK News.. Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met with Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Nuh Yilmaz on Friday, April 18, 2025, to discuss bilateral relations and key regional developments.
During the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of implementing the strategic Development Road Project, which aims to connect the Gulf states, Iraq, the Kurdistan Region, and the wider region with Turkey and Europe through an integrated railway network.
The discussions also covered ways to enhance bilateral cooperation across various sectors, in addition to reviewing the latest developments in Iraq and the broader region.
A key topic was the resumption of oil exports from the Kurdistan Region via the Turkish port of Ceyhan, which both parties agreed was vital to regional economic stability.
The two sides also exchanged views on the Turkish peace process. Both reaffirmed their support for the success of the initiative, with Deputy Foreign Minister Yilmaz expressing his gratitude to Prime Minister Barzani for backing the reconciliation efforts.
