President Barzani: The March 11 Uprising Was a Historic Achievement and a Milestone in the Struggle of the People of Kurdistan

On the anniversary of the March 11 Agreement of 1970, President Masoud Barzani stated that the agreement was a historic achievement and a crucial milestone in the struggle of the Kurdish people under the leadership of the late Barzani. For the first time, the Iraqi government recognized part of the rights of the Kurdish people, granting them an opportunity to manage their own affairs, strengthen their language and culture, and achieve stability.

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful,

The March 11, 1970, Agreement was a historic achievement and an important milestone in the struggle of the people of Kurdistan, led by the late Barzani. For the first time, the Iraqi government recognized part of the Kurdish people's rights, providing them with an opportunity to manage their own affairs, promote their language and culture, and establish stability.

This agreement was the result of the struggles of the Peshmerga, party cadres, and all sectors of Kurdistan during the September Revolution. It contained strategic lessons that influenced later stages of Kurdistan’s liberation movement, strengthening the legitimate cause of the Kurdish people.

On the 55th anniversary of the March 11 Agreement, we extend our deepest respect to the martyrs of the September Revolution and all Kurdistan’s revolutions. We express our gratitude to the Peshmerga and the freedom fighters of the September Revolution, who, through their resilience, resistance, and iron will, achieved this historic gain for their people.
