Kurdish Chef from Syrian Kurdistan Wins "Best British Kebab" Award

ARK News.. The 13th edition of the "British Kebab Awards" saw a remarkable dominance by Kurdish restaurants, with Kurdish chef Majid, originally from Syrian Kurdistan, winning the "Best Scottish Kebab" award for the fourth consecutive year, solidifying his strong presence in the UK’s culinary scene.

As in previous years, Kurds secured a significant share of the awards. However, due to the absence of an independent Kurdish state, they are often identified by the nationalities of the countries they reside in, such as Turkey or Syria.

Speaking to Kurdistan24 after his victory, Chef Majid expressed his pride, saying:
"Winning this award for the fourth time in a row is an honor. This achievement is not just mine; it belongs to everyone who has supported me on this journey."

Majid runs a family-owned restaurant with his wife and two daughters, emphasizing that passion and attention to detail are the keys to his success.

Ibrahim Dugosha, a senior figure in the UK Labor Party and founder of the competition, told Kurdistan24:
"This award reflects the dedication and resilience of the Kurdish people in Britain. It also helps raise awareness about Kurdish culture and contributes to shaping a positive image of Kurds among British politicians and society."

Launched in 2013, the competition has grown into a major event, attracting around 1,200 attendees this year, including prominent political figures such as MP Michelle Shawe, who praised the event for celebrating cultural diversity.

With this latest victory, Kurdish chefs continue to showcase their exceptional culinary skills, ensuring that the "tastiest kebab" in Britain carries a distinctive Kurdish touch.
