President Barzani Launches Ramadan Charity Campaign in Erbil

ARK News.. Omid Khoshnaw, the Governor of Erbil, announced that under the directive of President Masoud Barzani and Commander Mansour Barzani, 200 bakeries will distribute free bread to citizens during the holy month of Ramadan. Additionally, sweets and water will be provided to more than 2,000 mosques.

Speaking to Kurdistan 24 on Sunday, March 2, 2025, Governor Khoshnaw stated:
"As part of the Ramadan charity initiative in Erbil, following the instructions of President Barzani and Commander Mansour Barzani, 200 bakeries will provide free bread to those in need. Moreover, sweets and drinking water will be distributed to over 2,000 mosques in the city."

Earlier today, Mansour Barzani, Commander of the Kurdistan Region’s Special Forces, visited the Erbil Governorate Office to launch the initiative, acting on a directive from President Masoud Barzani.

Governor Khoshnaw welcomed Commander Mansour Barzani before a meeting was held, attended by senior officials, including Chiya Harki, Deputy Head of the Erbil Organizational Office of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), along with branch leaders Beland Ismail (Branch 2), Ari Nankali (Branch 16), Sankar Kanbi (Branch 23 in Qarachokh), and Rizgar Anwar (Branch 24 in Safeen).

During the meeting, it was announced that, starting tomorrow, a number of bakeries across Erbil will provide free bread to low-income families. Additionally, 2,000 mosques will be supplied with drinking water and sweets, funded by Commander Mansour Barzani.

Several bakeries across Kurdistan Region’s cities and districts have also followed suit, offering free bread during Ramadan as part of the charitable efforts.
