ARK News.. Iraqi media sources confirmed that the Iraqi authorities issued orders to double security measures in several areas near the Iraqi-Syrian border strip, after the Syrian Democratic Forces released hundreds of ISIS members.

According to Baghdad Today Agency, high orders were issued on Thursday, July 25, 2024, from Baghdad to double security measures in 11 areas near the border strip between Iraq and Syria from the Nineveh and Anbar sides, within areas in the depth with complex geography that constitute an environment and paths for infiltration.

The source confirmed that the aim of these reinforcements is to ward off the risks of any terrorist infiltration operations after the Syrian Democratic Forces recently released hundreds of ISIS members from prisons they control in northeastern Syria.

The PYD administration's amnesty included those who committed crimes before July 17, 2024, within specific details and procedures (1512) prisoners, including 60 women, the majority of whom are ISIS members.
