Syrian Democratic Forces kidnap a displaced Kurdish minor in the al-Shahba area
ARK News.. In continuation of the policy of intimidating children, robbing them of their childhood, and throwing them into forced conscription camps in the areas they control, the Syrian Democratic Forces kidnapped a minor from the al-Shahba area.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that the militants of the Revolutionary Youth Movement affiliated with the Syrian Democratic Forces, kidnapped the 14-year-old minor girl (Sidra Hussein Abdel Hannan), on July 16, 2024, from the al-Shahba area in the countryside of Aleppo.
According to the source, the kidnapped girl was lured by the Revolutionary Youth militants from in front of her house, taking advantage of the broken family situation, as her mother lives alone with her daughters after separating from her husband, in addition to exploiting the mother’s absence from the house at the time of the kidnapping.
The kidnapped minor comes from the village of Bekhcha in the Bilbile town of Afrin city in Syrian Kurdistan.
Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, said during a report entitled “Children and Armed Conflict” issued on June 3, 2024 that the Syrian Democratic Forces and parties affiliated with it recruited (462) children in the areas they control during the year 2023.
The Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, expressed his concern about the worsening recruitment and use of children at the hands of the Syrian Democratic Forces, and called for the implementation of the action plan signed by Mazloum Abdi, the commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces, with the United Nations representative for children and armed conflict, Virginia Gamba, in 2019 in order to ending and preventing the recruitment of children under the age of 18 and not using them in military operations.
