Rawaj Haji in an exclusive interview: “Barzani Charity” continues to provide support to Afrin

ARK News… On the first anniversary of the February 6 earthquake, ARK Channel conducted a special interview with Rawaj Haji, a member of the administrative body and the person in charge of the Afrin file at the Barzani Charity Foundation, which is the first organization to relief the afflicted in Afrin and its countryside.

Rawaj Haji said that the Barzani Charity Foundation, from the first day of the earthquake, tried to reach Afrin and Jenderes to relieve the afflicted: “After completing the administrative procedures, we were able to arrive on February 10.”

He added: "In the first four months of the state of emergency, we focused on the main sectors (food, health, and providing shelter) and other aid, and we were able to alleviate the suffering of those afflicted."

The official responsible for the Afrin file at the Barzani Charity Foundation reported that so far 101 aid trucks have entered Afrin, 3 of which are health aid and were distributed in the seven towns of Afrin.

In addition to a health team consisting of 20 staff, 5 ambulances, and medicines, they treated about 9,331 people, and 14,700 families benefited from the aid.

He pointed to the opening of a bakery by the Barzani Charity Foundation during the months of emergency in the center of Afrin, and the bakery worked to provide bread for 3,900 families in 7 neighborhoods.

Regarding the activities of the Barzani Charity Foundation in Afrin, Rawaj Haji spoke about opening the “Barzani Center for Culture and Art” and providing educational courses, as well as vocational courses to help residents find work opportunities and create a civilian life for young people away from war and politics.

In addition to the mobile ambulance project that the Foundation recently launched, he explained that: “The mobile ambulance contains medical needs and supplies and is accompanied by a cadre of doctors. 366 villages in Afrin benefit from the project, as the ambulance visits one of the villages every day.”

The member of the administrative body and the person responsible for the Afrin file at the Barzani Charity Foundation announced for the first time via ARK: “We have a project dedicated to orphans in Afrin, and we will provide them with cash assistance. So far, we have registered the names of 40 children and we will officially announce the project on February 10.”

Rawaj Haji appreciated the warm reception of the Barzani Charity Foundation by the people of Afrin: “Afrin is a paradise on earth. Its residents are educated and patriotic and believe in Barzani’s immortal approach. They are filled with happiness whenever they see us. Their reception has had a positive impact on our work.”

Regarding work in the rest of the regions in Syrian Kurdistan, a member of the organization’s administrative body confirmed: “Since the beginning of the crisis in Syria, we have tried to work in Qamishlo, Serê Kaniyê, Girê Spi, and other regions. In very difficult circumstances, the way was opened for us, and then the road was closed for us again.”

He added: "We want to work in the rest of the regions of Syrian Kurdistan, such as in Afrin, and we tried several times, but the PYD administration did not allow us."

Stressing that: “Our work is humanitarian, far from sectarianism, nationalism, and any political disagreement, and we are ready to work and serve our people in the regions of Syrian Kurdistan at any time, if the road is not blocked-in front of us.”
