SDF kidnaps a minor in the Kobani countryside
ARK News… The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) continue to intimidate children, rob them of their childhood, and throw them into forced conscription camps in the areas they control, and their latest victim is a minor from the Kobani countryside in Syrian Kurdistan.
A source from the family of the minor, Samira Ali Moro, told ARK News, today, January 30, 2024, that militants of the Revolutionary Youth Movement affiliated with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) kidnapped their child two days ago in their village of Bir Jarud, located in the Kobani countryside.
He added that when they inquired from the institutions affiliated with the PYD administration about the fate of their daughter, they informed them that Samira is now in one of the recruitment camps in the city of Hasakah to undergo training. The family appealed through ARK News to return Samira, who was born on (12-15-2010), so that she could continue her education.
Although the Syrian Democratic Forces signed an action plan with the United Nations to end and prevent the recruitment of children under the age of 18 and their use in military operations, as the plan was signed by the Commander-in-Chief of the SDF, Mazloum Kobani, with the United Nations representative for children and armed conflict, Virginia Gamba, the involvement of minors in battles into their recruitment is still continuing, amid neglect of the appeals of the children’s families and the calls of Kurdish activists, politicians and parties for the necessity of putting an end to this dangerous phenomenon that has, in one way or another, caused the region to be emptied of the Kurds.
