Barzani Charity Foundation launches educational and nursing courses in Kawergosk refugee camp

ARK News… In a constant effort to support refugee youth, the Barzani Charity Foundation, Tuesday, January 9, 2024, announced the launch of a new series of educational and training courses in the Kawergosk camp, designated for Syrian Kurdish refugees.

The Foundation announced the opening of a specialized course in nursing and first aid in cooperation with The Stirling Foundation, with the participation of 49 camp residents, which represents a serious step towards enhancing health skills and qualifying young people in the field of health care.

In a related context, the Barzani Charity Foundation opened an English language course in the camp, in cooperation with The Stirling Foundation Ten young men participated in this course, and it aims to enhance their understanding of the English language, which will enhance their future opportunities in the labor market.

Kawergosk camp, established in August 2013, hosts about 13,000 Kurdish refugees from Syrian Kurdistan.

After the outbreak of the Syrian crisis in the spring of 2011, the Kurdistan Region became a refuge for a large number of Syrian refugees, and according to the latest statistics of the Directorate of Migration and Displacement of the Ministry of Interior, it hosted more than 248 thousand Syrian refugees.

These initiatives bear witness to the Barzani Charity Foundation’s commitment to providing sustainable educational and training opportunities, with the aim of empowering young people and improving their living conditions and independence in light of the current challenges.
