ARK News… Afrin city in Syrian Kurdistan, on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, witnessed the explosion of a motorcycle bomb on Al-Sarvis Street in the Ashrafiya neighborhood, as a result, a child was killed and four others were injured, while students were leaving school.

The Syrian Civil Defense reported, "A child was killed and 4 other children were injured, an indefinite toll, as a result of a motorcycle bomb explosion on Al-Sarvis Street in the Ashrafiya neighborhood in the city of Afrin, while students were leaving school."

The Civil Defense explained, “Our teams transferred one of the injured people from the health center in the city to the nearest hospital to receive the necessary treatment, inspected the place and secured it.”

Local activists transferred pictures of the site of the explosion, and confirmed the death of a 5-year-old child, with five other children sustaining varying injuries.

This incident comes a few days after a similar motorcycle explosion in Newroz roundabout in the city center. The accident did not cause any human losses, and the damage was limited to material only.

Afrin is witnessing repeated security incidents, as another explosion occurred last November 18 near a military police checkpoint, wounding 18 people.

Incidents of explosions and loss of safety continue in Afrin and its countryside, amid civilian calls for the necessity of the armed factions leaving the cities and achieving security and stability in populated areas.
