Amouda... The Kurdish National Council commemorates the Kurdistan Flag Day
ARK News… In the presence of the Kurdish masses from the city, the Amouda Local Council of the Kurdish National Council in Syria, on Sunday, December 17, 2023, commemorated Kurdistan Flag Day, at eleven in the morning, in the city of Amouda in Syrian Kurdistan.
During the commemoration, Muhammad Omar Sheikhmous, head of the ENKS Local Council, delivered a council speech in which he spoke about the importance and symbolism of the Kurdistan flag for the Kurdish people.
The Kurdistan Flag Day is marked on December 17 of each year, and this day was designated by the Parliament of Kurdistan on December 11, 2009, where special ceremonies are organized in all cities and regions of the region to raise the flag and celebrate it.
The Kurdistan Flag Day was designated as an official occasion based on the date it was raised in the city of Mahabad in Iranian Kurdistan when the independent Republic of Kurdistan was declared in the city. The Kurdistan flag was raised on December 17, 1945 in the city that was declared the capital of the republic, which lasted for less than a year.
